Probably best bet is 10 x 50. If those are too large try 7 x 50. I've used 7 x 35 with no complaints.
You won't need to spend too much. Easily under $50 for those sizes at Target, etc and you'll do fine. I suggest not going over 10 power. Too much shaking.
IMO you won't need waterproofed binocs. Off the rack Tascos or Bushnells will do the trick nicely. As I mentioned before I was fine with 7 x 35's which are light and small. 7 x50's and 10 x 50's are bulkier but not too bad and more powerful with better light gathering ability.
Try out several pairs at a sporting goods store. Clearly for Alaska wide angle and power are necessary IF you want to spend the time looking at the sights. 10x50's are ideal for me. Wide angle is necessary for marine wildlife, and at least 10 power for wildlife. Especially if going to Denali Park the power is important.
