Has anyone been to Traitors Cove? I have been told this is a bear site much like Anan. I am looking to possibly go there in August, but have been told that it is usually good thru September, also.
Does anyone have any experience with this excursion? Anyone done this and Anan?
Thanks for any help.
Also, has anyone heard anything about the naturalist on the Pacific Princess.
There is no comparism with the two, Anan is superior. But plenty vastly enjoy Traitor's Cove. Anan is usually over by mid August. So go where the time fits best for peak viewing.
Hi,
Were undecided between Traitors Cove or Kayaking the Tatoosh Islands.
I am visiting in late August and had the same question of the chances of seeing bears.
While researching I found this Photograph of a Bear at Traitors Cove. It's dated September 10th!
The bear also looks very fat being so late in the year.
Hope this info helps. either way the photos on this site are amazing. ketchikanphotos.com
Traitors cove entrance has the best halibut fishing I ever experienced. I don't believe it is on the mainland so any bears will be black and I'd guess sightings would be rare unless they are foraging the streams during salmon runs.
