Juneau or Skagway for Dog Sled Camp and/or Helicopter ride?
So my family finally booked an Alaska cruise for this summer...Yay! Anyway, we are very interested in the Husky Dog Sled Camps and possibly combo/seperate glacier viewing helicopter ride (if we can afford it). I noticed that both Juneau and Skagway offer similar excursions. Pricing is about the same (I noticed the Dog Sled camp is a little cheaper per person for Skagway though). Just curious if anyone would recommend one over the other for the glacier helicopter ride and/or Dog Sled Camp...or is it perhaps over-hyped? Thanks a bunch.
I'd highly recommend the combination helicopter and dog sledding. You land at a camp on a glacier, and sled on the glacier.
I'd prefer doing it out Juneau, as there's lots of ways to entertain yourself in Skagway, with cheaper tours, or even none at all. Easy enough to rent a car in Skagway, and drive to Carcross or explore the Chilikoot Trail a bit on your own.
