The major cruise lines offer very similar itineraries, generally calling at the same set of ports and visiing one set of glaciers or another. The real differentiator is the style of each line. Here, I'm talking about various aspects of your preferred style -- for example, do you like dressing up for dinner, or would you prefer not to? Would you prefer to go to a party where the host serves wine and cheese or a pary where the host serves pretzels and beer? Would you prefer to eat dinner at Outback Steakhouse or at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse? These questions don't have absolute right and wrong answers, but they do indicate preferences as to lifestyle that would make one cruise line or another a better match for you.
Now, I have two specific recommendatons with regard to choice of cruise line.
>> If you have found a crulse line that you really like, stick with it.
>> If this is your first cruise or if you have not found a cruise line that you really like, go to your local bookstore, buy a guidebook to cruise lines and cruise ships (all of the major series of travel guides, including Fodor's, Frommer's, Berlitz, etc., have them) and read the descriptions of the cruise lines. You'll probably be able to narrow it down to two or three lines that would be a good match for you.
And a good travel agent can help ou to refine your selection by clarifying diferences that a gudebook may obscure.
