Default NORTHERN LIGHTS VISIBLE INMID MAY

Are the Northern Lights visible during MAy/ We are on the Island prin.
12th, do we have a chance of seeing the Northern Lights?

sorry, not likely even a chance.


If a priority, choose a visit at the earlist- end of August into Sept. And add TIME, interior, ideally Fairbanks for several days with your own transportation. DAILY check http://www.gedds.alaska.edu/AuroraForecast/

To add to what Karen said, the Northern Lighs aren't visible from April 15 at the latest to August 15 at the earliest, simply because it doesn't get dark. Already at May 2 you could drive all night without headlights if you had to, and we're gaining almost 6 minutes of light per day until June 21st.

And there are ACTIVE predictions ALL year long, doesn't mean they are viewable in Alaska- which they usually aren't in this time frame.

You may get a look if an exceptional strong display, but you are also 6 weeks from the LONGEST day of the year.

Why didn't you post a "sorry Murray" who lives there????

The aurora displays can happen 24/7, 365 days a year, but that doesn't change the fact that it's too light to see them here. Maye you'll see them in Seattle, where it does get dark.....
