Default Should I Panic !!!

Hi everyone,
Our pre cruise land tour organised by Archers Direct (UK) is leaving Denali State Park at 8:00 am on our cruise day.
Allowing for a stop at the Iditarod Headquarters for 1 hour is this cutting it a little bit fine for our departure time of 20:00 hours?
Regards
Larsue

If I am reading you right??? Leaving Denali Park- then going to the Sled dog museum?? IF you truely are staying at the STATE park, it's only 3 hours to Anchorage, National Park, 5-6 hours. The museum is in Wasilla, an hour to Anchoage.

WHERE are you cruising out of?? Whittier, should be NO problem. 1 1/4 hour plus tunnel time Anchorage/Whittier. Seward is 3 hours from Anchorage, and sorry, I would not recommend this from the National park.

Default Karen 16

Hi Karen,
Thanks for reply.
To clarify.
We are staying at Denali River Cabins (mile 231) and leaving at 8:00 am on Sunday June 24 to depart Seward on the Statendam at 20:00 hrs.
Apparently we are stopping at the Iditarod HQ for 1 hour and then onto Anchorage and then Seward.
I feel this is an awful lot of mileage to do and am pressing tour operator to reschedule (perhaps a 6:00am departure from accomodation).
Your thoughts please.
Regards
Larsue

You are looking at 9 hours on the road. I would skip the Sled Dog Museum, and just make a meal stop in Anchorage. This is less than ideal for some spectacular scenery of which you are going to be sick of, by time you get to the Seward Highway. If possible, I suggest you rework your routing and time frame. You are missing out on wonderful touring time in Seward and scenic driving stops. A significant reason of visiting Alaska. With you coming from so far away- are you sure you are making the most of this trip??
