[Help needed for packing for 7 day cruise/4 day land
Hi, One month til we sail to Alaska---I've been out and about buying new clothes--and worrying I'll probably pack too much---6 different outfits for nighttime, blue jeans, casual active wear and variety to tees and hoodies, fleece , vests and jackets. What do the men usually wear during the day--bluejeans and shirts or fleeces/sweatshirts/sweaters?
I'm rarely cold so will a sweatshirt be too warm for me on the ship during the day. Also does one see a lot of capris onboard for Alaska.
Helpful hints appreciated. We sail out of Vancouver on June 25
Thanks-- hope to get some responses :D
It's up to you how many clothes you want to take, but it does sound like you're overpacking. Don't forget, there will be a laundry available if you need it.
For my first cruise, I didn't wear half of what I packed. Pared it down for my second cruise, didn't wear 1/4 of what I packed. Think I now know how to get it right for my next cruise!
Alaska cruises tend to be really casual (except during formal night of course), so take whatever you are comfortable in. If you like capris, go for it. I would think a sweatshirt would be a bit warm on the ship, and during a port excursion might become too warm and then what do you do? Think "layers": some T-shirts/short sleeved blouses, 1 or 2 sweaters, and a jacket. Then you can take items off or put them on as you need them. Be sure to bring raingear for ports of call. If you're out a lot on deck, you might want some light gloves and something to cover your ears--it can get pretty cold in the ocean wind.
Have a great trip!
We are cruising September 12th, roundtrip out of Vancouver.
Will we be needing heavy jackets?
Our excursions consist of whale watching, salmon fishing and train ride.
Will jeans and t-shirt/sweater be okay, or do we need something heavier?
What kind of weather can we expect in September?
Thanks for any help!
Samtam: jeans, t's, and sweaters work well. Think "layers". You might also pack lightweight rain gear and waterproof gloves. Rain gear came in handy for us when viewing glaciers from the deck. We encountered cool temps and drizzle that day.
