What type of weather can we expect for September?
We are cruising Sept. 12-19 2007, inside passage, round trip from Vancouver. I have read that layers seem to be the way to go, but will
we need heavy jackets for touring Glacier Bay?
We are planning on doing the layering thing, sweatshirts, etc.
but am not sure if we will need something heavier.
We are on the Carnival Spirit, and I just want to make sure, but I think
I read that jeans are okay for daytime on this ship. Is this correct?
Thanks for any advice!
You are sailing at the worse potential weather for the cruise season. So it is important to be well prepared in your attire. A lightweight lined jacket is a must, so is a knit hat and gloves. Expecially important is rain gear, a long poncho at the least. Warm layers of turtle necks, sweatshirt, sweater, etc.
I never take jeans- just too bulky, tend to get and stay damp, and take forever to dry. But I also do spend all my time out doors, would not be an issue for most.
Samtam - we are on the same cruise as you. Living near Vancouver we are used to wet weather but we have really gorgeous Septembers. I am hoping to see lots of fall colour on the cruise.
I have already started putting stuff away - and so far have my long underwear and hiking boots ready to go lol. We are taking heavy ski-type jackets just in case - but we aren't flying so how much luggage we can take isn't an issue with us. We are doing the photo safari in Juneau so need to be dressed for anything.
We are in our 50's, travelling with two other couples. This will be our fourth Carnival Cruise - and we have loved every one of them. Jeans are the norm except for dinner in the dining room.
Look forward to hearing more about you.

Hazelson, thanks for the information. This is our first cruise ever,
so it is all new to us. We live in South Carolina, and are flying into
Seattle on Monday Sept. 10.
My hubby is in his early 50s and I am in my late 40s. What to take is
a real issue with us due to flying cross country, and I have heard
different things. But the one thing that has always been advised is to layer, layer, layer!
We are really excited about our cruise and cannot wait to go.
Again, thanks so much for your help with the clothing issue!!
We did this cruise on the Radiance OS Sept 1, 2005 and had the most beautiful weather imagined. We only used our heavy coat, gloves and knitcap when we were viewing Hubbard Glaciers. In Ketchican it was the 3rd sunny day and the store owners were really upset because they wanted it to rain. You are also going at a great time for all the store sales. Everything should be 75% or more off. Great buys for Christmas, even on ship. We wore jeans and corduroy pants during the day. Have a great time.

There can be a BIG difference in weather from the first week of Sept. which usually is good, compared to later. It just can drop off significantly.
Samtam - found pt yesterday we got a two category upgrade and $500 off the price - at last a great TA. That makes the trip even better. Where are you planning on staying in Vancouver? If you have any questions just click on my profile and pm me. Looking forward to meeting you and your hubby on board :o)
