Default HELP! Packed too much?

HELP!
We are leaving in the morning flying out to Seattle, then on to Vancouver on Tuesday. We are sailing on the Spirit on Wednesday.
We will be gone 11 days. I think I have overpacked us big time!

We have 2 large suitcases, and two small cases.
We have our clothes for formal night, but I think I have overpacked
for the rest of the time. We each have a pair of waterproof boots, sneakers(wearing on the plane) and dress shoes...
Probably more shirts than we need. both have 5 pairs of jeans. I have
two outfits for nonformal nights, and he has 2 sportcoats, and slacks.
2 raincoats, 2 vests.
I have read and read where people always come back saying they packed
way too much. We REALLY don't want to lug all this around.
Any suggestions on lightening the load?
Thanks so much for any help!

We always have 2 large, 2 mediums and the small carry on when flying because of weight rules. And yes, I overpack but I like to be prepared and have options. If you are cruising on the Carnival Spirit, they do have self-service laundry. Just be sure to bring quaters and laundry supplies. I think 4 pairs of jeans would be suffient, flying in 1 and packing the other 3. We took 1 heavy coat, 1 light coat, 1 wind breaker, 2 formal outfits, no sportcoats, 4 docker slacks & long sleeve shirts, 3 short sleeves shirts/blouses, long scarves, 2 pairs of tennis shoes (flying in 1) but no vests. We went Sept. 1, 2005 and had exceptionally beautiful, sunny weather. We were so glad we had the short sleeve shirts but you can always buy t-shirts in port or on ship. Have a great time.

I way overpacked!

For the 3 of us we brought 8 stuffed suitcases that included large 2 duffle bags and one super large suitcase that weighed 49.9 lbs.
Six were checked in, 2 went in the overhead and we also had 2 large tote bags.
We were gone 12 days

Never ever will I do that again!

Here's what I would leave behind...
Brought 5 pairs of jeans for each of us. Next time 3 pairs.
Brought 5 pairs of Dockers/Dress pants for each of us for dinner. Next time 2 pairs.
Brought 7 nice shirts/tops for each of us for dinner. Next time 2 maybe 3.
Brought 14 everyday shirts for each of us (one for each day with a few extra). Next time 9 at the most.
Brought 2 jackets for each of us, next time only 1.

I did okay with shoes (they only took up 1 suitcase).

We didn't wear half of what I packed. My DH and DS made fun of my overpacking the entire trip.

Now I will admit that packing for Alaska is more involved then the Caribbean. Sweaters/jackets/pullovers take up more space then a t-shirt and weigh considerably more.

Good luck and light packing!

Thanks so much for all the info. I went back thru and
took out a few things. Still have the two large cases and two small
cases with one carry on. But they all weigh considerably less.
Having to fly cross country instead of being able to just drive to the docks
does have its drawbacks!!
We have waited years to cruise to Alaska! I booked this 16 months ago and it is finally here!
Thanks again for your information.

Are you doing a lot of hiking? If not, your sneakers might be all you need. Taking out two boots will probably save you a lot of space. If you have to bring the boots with you, don't take them in their original box. Just wrap them in a plastic bag.
