Hubby is a HOG member so the Harley tour caught my eye (for him, I may take a walk and get a massage ). Has anyone done this tour? How satisfying would it be for a guy who's used to wandering the backroads of California? If he rents a bike on his own, will he get lost in the wilderness or eaten by a bear? If he convinces me to go with him, will I be terrified by the state of the roads?
Maybe the Misty Fjords that I've been reading such great things about would be a better investment?
We're on HAL Westerdaam 25 May- 1 Jun
Thanks for any help.

My teenage son and I are going in July. I ride sportbikes in SoCal and noticed the same tour. I decided to "pass" for a few reasons:
- As you and your hubby know, we have great motorcycle roads here in CA. I'm sure the ones in AK are great, but there's so much stuff in AK that we *don't* have here. I've read Misty Fjord is an amazing place to experience. A freind said to take Yosemite, double the depth, halve the width, and fill it with water.
- Passenger must be at least 18 which is a no-go in my case.
- I've been on similar tours and they cater to the least experienced person. It's no fun loping along at 20mph on a cycle tour, or making rest stops every 5 minutes hiking. You might call up the dealer that runs the tours and ask if they group according to skill level.
Just my comments, I'm getting excited about our trip and hope you are too!
My husband and I try to do the "Harley in Paradise tour" where-ever they are offered. Last year we did do the one in Ketchikan. They do take you on a nice tour and "walk about" and it's hard to get lost.
It can be a bit expensive but it was easy and we did not worry about getting lost or missing the ship as it was a ship tour.
