We always believe in tipping everyone for their sevices on the cruise ship and shore excursions. In the past we have tipped the owner if we went on their float-plane or small boat and they provided the service, but someone told us that is insulting to the owner. What is proper? If you go on a float-plane or boat tour with the owner for $250, do you tip and if so how much?
Hi Travel 25 you made my wonder so I did some research. On one website it said "Tipping of caretaker is encouraged." On other it said "All tips are included (including the tour director), so you never have to face the awkward task of tipping." My suggestion would be to call the company and ask if tips are included. If not it is proper to tip the float plane operator. 10% to 20% has always been a standard tip. I normally tip 15%. I hope that helps.
