Default Alaska locals please advise

We are booked on Carnival Spirit September 17 2008.
Juneau 2-11pm
Skagway 7-4:30
Ketch 11-7

We wanted to do helicopter tours in Juneau but after talking with the folks Temsco / AIE they explained that they will not be doing these tours in September :
1. Regarding the dogsled.....because the dogs are gone onto other things then.
2. Due to the late arrival of the ship (2pm) they cannot do the flights.

Does Carnival use someone other than Temsco / AIE or do they have a deal with them to fly anyway?

Thanks

Phil & Liz

Sunset is 7:10 that night ( http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneDay.php ) so there's lots of time for a heli-tour. If Temsco doesn't want your money, see Coastal or ERA - http://www.coastalhelicopters.com/ or http://www.flightseeingtours.com/

Thanks for the reply. Will look into the others.....

OK...they look possible.

The one that does the glacier AND dog sled won't work.......

http://www.flightseeingtours.com/
Juneau Glacier Dog Sled Tour
Tour operates from May 11th to August 31st

But...

Juneau Four Glacier Adventure
Tour operates from May 1st to September 30th

And....depending on whwre this tour originates.....
Denali Glacier Expedition
Tour operates from May 14th to September 22nd

We will call them and see what times they fly.

Still would like to know who Carnival contracts with....they offer the tours on the excursion site but are they really available? I would hate to book now and then when on the ship find out they don't offer it. Then its too late to do anything about it.

Nobody runs the sled dog tours into September, simply because the snow has all melted off the glaciers and the bare ice is too hard/dangerous to run the dogs on. But all of the heli flightseeing trips are available.

Aaahh...but there is some glimmer......

Liz emailed http://www.eraflightseeing.com/content/index_eng.html
about their Juneau Glacier Dog Sled Tour..... Add a Dog Sledding excursion to your Four Glacier Adventure.

They replied that they have seats available for this on September 19th, so she booked us, even tho on their website it says the tour only goes until Aug 31.

Now, the subject line in the email was "Juneau Glacier Dog Sled Tour" but I asked her to reply back and be absolutely clear that we are looking for the dogsled AND glacier. Perhaps they diod not see that part of the email.\

We will find out soon.

Thanks Murray for the help.
