Default Alaska coming home - Vancouver question

We will be going to Alaska in May and decided that instead of flying all night, we will be staying in Vancouver for the night on the day of arrival and flying out first thing the next a.m. I believe we will schedule the excursion to Grouse Mountain/Stanley Park which is 5 hours long on the day we arrive back into port - which I belive is Canada place.

When you schedule an excursion on on the day of arrival in the port - what do they do with your luggage? Where do they drop you off at? We will need to be dropped off at our hotel if possible. Will they do this? If anyone has any feedback on this PLEASE let me know. I havn't booked the hotel in hopes someone will tell me what is the best way to do this. I think after the excursion I would imagine we will just chill around the hotel unless we see something we defintely want to do.

There are many many hotels in Vancouver - after this excursion does anyone have any feedback on the hotel close to airport - so we can get a free shuttle the next am. to come home?

Thanks for your input!

Cheryl,
From our experience, the excursions you book thru the ship on debarkation day end at the airport only. You could book the excursion thru the ship, your luggage would go under the bus with you during the excursion and when the excursion is done you would end up at the airport. Then gather your luggage and take whatever hotel shuttle you booked to the hotel and check in. I don't know about hotels close to the airport because we stayed downtown. We had a 6 am flight out once and arrived at the airport around 4:30 am but found out that Vancouver's airport security opens at 5 am. Have a great time.

Thats exactly what I'll do!! Thanks!! And thanks for the tip --- our flight leaves out at 9 - so I guess we will get there for 7ish. What hotel did you stay at? What did you do on your day (days?) in Vancouver? How 'far' is downtown? I just don't know how much we could pack into one day, so thats why I figured the excursion which takes you to the mountain and stanley park would do -- then perhaps a drink by the hotel pool and last night of R & R before back to reality. Thanks!

We stayed in the Hyatt and the Sheraton Wall, walking distance from Canada Place! We got them thru Priceline. We did the Big Bus, red double decker bus going around Vancouver with over 25 hop off hop on stops including Stanley Park a couple of times. The ticket was good for 2 days. They offer the mountains but we did not get to the mountains, maybe next time. It is a 30 minutes ride to the airport and it was $25 including tip a few years ago.

You can see what the bus offers at the link below and click on the map to show all you can see. Granville Island is included and a nice artsy stop. I think you would see alot doing this. Enjoy whatever you decide.
