Has anyone booked with southeast tours in Alaska? We are thinking of doing this and trying to get feedback. Thanks Its a 6 hour tour - 1 1/2 hrs to get there, 2 hours riding and 1 1/2 hours back to Emerald Lake. As I have NEVER booked outside of Carnival, I am double checking - as I don't want to miss the ship!!!!!!! WE would leave 1 1/2 hrs after docking and arrive 2 hours before sailing that pm. Thanks!
I booked all of our trips once we arrived in each Alaskan city. I knew the cruise lines had to add on some fees for their time or they had to have the tour groups charge them a little less to work with them. Most of these small Alaskan towns make little money on the cruise ships. They dock and then ask you to shop at their owned stores. The main tour programs have booths outside of the secure area by the ships. We walked up and was able to book everything we wanted. We saved some money and the locals made a bit more off of us.
Southeast has been providing tours at Skagway for many years and has a good reputation. The women who does the horse rides, Joni, does an excellent job - I was out with her in 2007 and had a great time. Joni has her own Web site at http://www.yukonhorses.com/ The independent tour operators all cover each other, and nobody ever misses a ship - they're all well aware of how fast news about such things travels now.
