Default Getting there....

We are booked on the Sapphire Princess in AUgust and are coming from NY. DOing the cruise tour first and then the cruise. Any suggestions as to the easiest way to get from NY to Fairbanks. That is one long travel day!

I would suggest you go a day or two early to safeguard against any delays and also to help overcome the long trip until your tour begins.

May I suggest flying?

I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist. The suggestion to arrive a day or so before your tour, is a good one. We fly to Anchorage from Houston (Central time zone) and felt the effects of jet lag.

As far as the best route for air, just start checking the different web sites for air fares and connecting cities. Good luck!

I too, strongly suggest you add 2 days prior to your cruisetour. Most see very little of Fairbanks, a car is necessary in my opinion.

Hopefully you are well aware of the itinerary you booked and have the TWT in Denali Park, the NHT is completely worthless and a very poor choice for Alaska.

I ask fly to Los Angeles/San Diego/San Francisco and hit Disneyland/San Diego Zoo/ Pier 39 a couple of days then fly the rest of the way to Fairbanks the day before your tour.

Yes we have the TWT booked! Switched it the other day thanks to info on these boards. Any suggestions for excursions?

You need to do your homework, there are 100's of tours to consider, few that aren't worthwhile.

Narrow down your interests, determine your budget. then repost for more specific information.
