Default Flightseeing choices

I only want to do one flight seeing tour. Do I do the flight over McKinley Summit or a float plane in Ketchiken. If I do Ketchiken I give up going on the Bering Sea Crab Fishermans Tour. Thanks

Default Not first hand experience, but

I gave up the crab tour to do the flight in Misty Fjords (Ketchikan) because my brother said he would kill me if I didn't.

He, as well as many others on this board, speak very highly of the Misty Fjords seaplane excursion.

As an added note, I'm thinking of flying The Big One in addition to my Ketchikan excursion.

Not much help, am I?

Sweet Sailing

Thanks for your reply Peg. I bit the bullet and booked both a float plane with Southeast aviation in Ketchiken because they had a sale of $199 so that justified it. Also booked the Bering Sea Crab Fishermans tour again a good buy with the toursaver book. I am thinking the same as you maybe also doing the Big One if the weather is good on that morning. Have to drive up from Anchorage that day so I may leave it to fate and see if the weather is good and if they still have spots available on the 11am flight. When are you in Alaska. I'm there June 22 and get my ship in Seward on the 26th. I can't wait, its my first time in Alaska.

Hi Marilyn,

Being a big fan of Deadliest Catch, it killed me not to book the crab fisherman tour. Would you come back and tell me how you liked it? I could still cancel my other excursion which is the Zipline thingy (never been).

Same as you, I have penciled in the Big One at the McKinley Lodge but am waiting until then to see what the weather would be like. Great minds think alike!

I'm doing the NB6 tour which starts Aug. 23. Unfortunately, I will not be bumping into you. The tour starts in Fairbanks, made the final payment today!!!

No matter what we pick, any day away from work, laundry, cooking dinner, house cleaning, etc.... should make us very happy.

Yes I totally agree with the cooking and cleaning. The more I look into Alaska the more I feel it is going to warrant a return trip. What network is the Deadliest Catch on. I have never seen it and would like to before I go.

Oh my gosh,

Its the Discovery Channel. Deadliest Catch: Crab Fishing in the Bering Sea! You must watch it. Also check out any Alaskan preview shown on that channel and the Travel Channel. Be forewarned, you will be hooked.

My favorite fishing boat...Time Bandit. You guys rock!

and to think my job is dangerous....

Well I have flown both these trips several times, and it is difficult to choose. IF McKinley viewing is a priority than also consider booking that too. You may be able to pick up a "used" discounted coupon book, which has 2 for 1 coupons available. My preference flying this area are summit flights. Have flown most all trips.
