Default Need advice on transportation in Seattle

My husband and I are planning on going on the Star Princess in August this year. I had hoped that we would go in a day earlier and see the Pikes Market and such.
First of all, the transfer from airport to hotel : what is better? pay the high taxi to hotel? I heard it was about $45 dollars. OR does any of the hotels shuttle to and from?

Also, what is the best hotel to stay at as far as proximity of pier 91?

I really dont even know if it is worth the trouble to stay a day earlier or not? My husband has traveled alot...he doesnt see the reason to go to see the sights of seattle.

I know that you can pay for the transfer fees before and after the cruise to and from airport. but it doesnt include hotel a day earlier..

we have always just driven to ports of departure... very new to this ...help.
confused..

Doubletree has shuttles every half hour to and from the cruise ship terminals if you don't mind being at the airport.

Depending where you are coming from, getting in a day early is a good option. Flights get delayed, luggage gets lost, etc all the time.

Staying downtown, is best, IF downtown sightseeing is your priority. Staying at the airport, with a rental car can also offer you plenty. The city bus can also take you downtown and actually to the cruiseship, but allow at least an hour.

None of the airport hotels offer shuttles to pier 91 without charge, or to downtown. Seatac/downtown is $32 +++ tip fixed. (Pier 91 is not downtown)

We just returned from Alaskan Cruise on HAL which also uses Pier 91. We had a late flight after our cruise, so went on the Seattle excursion 3.5 hrs. It included the market and spent about an hour there along with visiting the Space Needle and a bus drive around Seattle. It ended at the airport.

Perhaps Princess has a similar tour to take after your cruise.

At the airport it was easy to go down to the Baggage area and follow the signs for Cruise Line transfers. I highly recommend it.

We flew in a day early and stayed at a hotel near the airport in SEATAC, the hotels were alot less expensive than in Seattle. There was a service called Seattle Expess that took us right to the ship the next day for 12 dollars each. They also provide a service to downtown Seattle. You might check their website, I just GOOGLED them. The driver was really nice and answered all of our questions about Seattle and even made some suggestions on what to do when we returned from the cruise. After the cruise we stayed downtown and the hotel charged 35 dollars to take us to the airport at 530 in the morning.
Have fun on your cruise![/i]
