Ketchikan is all about totems and plenty of them. For carving, look at Saxman, which usually has them. Easy to get to from the dock visitor center tour building. Verify you will be able to get into the Carving shed, some time frames are ship contracted. Totem Heritage Museum, walkable from the dock, without mobility limitations, offers a wonderful look at historic totems with the preservation the basis of the museum. All about Ketchikan are totems, budget some time to get out and see them. Especially the Eagle right outside the tunnel, and several- Whale Park, entrance to Creek St. Ride the funicular up to the Fox Lodge, and go out the back, beautiful display of Totems. Also a small exhibit in the Public Lands, Discovery Center.
