Rental car from Anchorage to Seward

My husband and I are arriving in Anchorage two days prior to our ship's sailing. We thought we would rent a car and take our time driving from Anchorage to Seward. I've started checking into renting a car. The only place I could find was Hertz; however, the daily rate was about $270. Anyone know why it's so expensive?

Supply and demand. They are the only company. Other alternative is to take the Alaska RR.
