I've been researching ways to get from Anchorage to Seward where our cruise will begin. My husband and I will be flying to Alaska three days before our cruise so that we can look around and see the sights. I've read about the Alaska train and also a bus service. The bus service has narration and makes 3 stops. If we do take the train, should we pay the extra for the gold service? Any help would be appreciated.
For me, the bus is always my last choice. The train has superior scenery and equally excellent is a car rental, through Hertz. Although costly, it certainly offers you the MOST freedom and ability to include what you want.
My husband and I plan to rent a car in Seward on Wednesday and our ship leaves on Friday evening. We are planning on doing the Kenai boat trip. Any other suggestions would be welcome.
We were thinking of renting the car in Hertz and returning it in Seward but it is so much more expensive doing it this way instead of waiting to rent in Seward and returning in Seward. We are saving our money for the dog sledding and glacier landing in Juneau.
Thanks for any suggestions, especially in the Seward area.
