Brown Bear excursion in Juneau
Hello, the family is taking an alaskin cruise (princess diamond) in August and the Brown Bear excursion looks interesting. Has anyome done it and if so how was it, did you see bears, did you see anything else and is it worth the $$$. Any other suggestions? How about the dog sledding on Mendelson. Thanks in advance.

Nope, haven't done that excursion...Juneau is always good for whale watching if you are interested in that?

WHAT, bear tour??? Out of Juneau, the "only" choice, in my opinion is Pack Creek, via a fly in and having permits to get to the viewing platform. I would NEVER consider any of the tours which do not get on land, and expect you to view from the float plane- a poor choice to consider.

It is Mendenhall Glacier. The glacier dog sledding tours are enjoyed by many. It does not matter what company you use, all are similar. Be advised you do not drive any sleds, you are usually hooked up to two sleds, with 1 riding breaks, 2 passengers and the driver. You switch off as agreed. This is also the most canceled of Alaska tours, so always have back up plans.
