Has anyone ever been able to see the Northern Lights on a cruise of the Inside Passage? I read that they can be seen as far south as Ketchikan, but I'm wondering if it's too light in the summer time?
I saw them for a short time on our cruise in September of '06. However it was very late at night. Earlier in the summer there is too much light, it's still light at midnight, to get a good view.
BTW: Tonight 08/04 there should be a pretty good show for people in the Canada, Alaska and the northern continental United States.
Take care,
Mike

Thanks Mike,
Glad I didn't miss anything, I kept checking, but nothing. I know they usually appear early morning, and I wasn't going to get up just to not see anything...Sure would be nice to catch a glimpse again sometime.
I have seen nothern lights on the inside passage. Had a very active prediction- absolutely necessary, clear dark night. You haven't got a chance before August, and actually probably mid August and later is the more the range.
