Skagway to Haines Ferry?

Here is a new question..........has anyone ever taken the ferry from Skagway to Haines. I read that is takes 45 minutes on a fast ferry.

If anyone has, is it worth the trip? Is Haines a nice town to walk around? The ferry has several times it makes the trip thoughout the day and I thought it might be a fun excursion to do on our own.
