Seattle hotel for Alaskan cruise

We are leaving out of Seattle for an Alaskan cruise; YEAHHHHHHHHHHH. I've never stayed/been in Seattle so we would like to go in a few days ahead and explore the city. I wondered if anyone had a recommendation for a hotel that is centrally located? A few that I've looked at are averaging about $250 per night; yikes..... Thanks

We had a group of us who went to Alaska via Seattle last September.
Between all of us, we stayed at The Maxwell, The Warwick, Comfort Suites @ Tukwila(out near the airport), and The Red Lion.
None of us had any complaints. We all liked our individual hotels, it just depended on where you wanted to stay and how much you wanted to spend.

We will be there in June, 2013, and wanted to stay near Pike Place Market. Since we need 3 rooms, I wanted to stay under $200 per room. It just wasn't working. I considered using the smartphone apps "Hotel Tonight" and "Tonight", which offer great same-day rates. They'd be great if you only need one room, so decided not to risk it for our group. Decided to try Priceline. I only bid on 4-star hotels, and on my third try (Day 3) I was able to get the Westin (perfect location) for $140 per night; taxes and fees brought it to $164 per night per room. I was thrilled with that.

We ended up booking the Sheraton in downtown Seattle. Close to everything (so they say). We're paying about $175 per night so I guess this isn't too bad. Thanks everyone for your assistance. Happy Cruising!
