Default Bike Rentals now available in Victoria, BC

Victoria, BC, a port of call for many Alaska Cruises is now offering Bike Rentals by a new business, Victoria Bike Rentals. During the months from May to September renting a bike is a great way to see the city.

Victoria is a very bike-friendly city and renting a bike allows cruise passengers to see a great deal of the city including Beacon Hill Park, Victoria's beautiful coast line, James Bay Heritage Neighbourhood, Fisherman's Wharf, the Historic Downtown and Harbour districts including the Empress Hotel and Legislative buildings, Craigdarroch Castle. Depending on arrival time of your ship it is also possible to visit Butchart Gardens.

Biking the city allows the opportunity to visit whichever attractions appeal to you most, while traveling at your own pace and stopping wherever you wish.

Bike Rentals will include a complimentary lock, map, helmet and basket. The provided bikes are also capable of carrying up to 50 pounds of luggage / souvenir purchases.

That would actually a very cool way to see Victoria. I have been lucky enough to spend several days there.

Many ships just do a "technical" stop there with the dock miles away from downtown and they don't arrive until 6:00 PM (then the lines for the bus take 30 minutes.)

But if you ever get a day there it is a beautiful place with a lot to see.

I have always wondered, why it is a late stop there. We were able to do an excursion, but still?

I'll be going in August for my first "Alaskan" cruise and this looks perfect for my needs. I'm sure it won't cost as much either, well hopefully not!
