Default new safes

I wish Carnival would get rid of those ridicious safes they have in the cabins. A safe is suppose to be use to keep your valuables in. Well to me I would like to keep my credit cards in the safe and not have to have to carry them with me on deck or other places. Carnival need to put in the kind of safes Princess has the kind you input your own numbers. Wake up Carnival can't you realize what an oximoron this is? Use your charge card to operate the safe that your are suppose to keep your valuables in!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Evie, you don't have to use a charge card (and shouldn't). Look in your wallet - you'll find PLENTY of cards with the magnetic strip on the back. Library cards, health club cards, anything with a strip will do.

on Princess you can do it both ways, either put in a number or swipe a card.

I agree with this. You shouldnt have to leave the means to enter the safe whether it be credit card or library card out of the safe, so that someone else could open it just by using the card that is left out. At Club Med they have safes in the rooms in which the guest programs their own passcode, ships should have the same.

We always use a old card from a store or CC that is no longer valid or anything with a mag strip. Even if lost others won't be able to use it as they have no idea what cabin I am in. Not a problem for us.

You could open a second checking account at your bank that has no service charge.... Ask for 2 or 3 Debit cards.... Keep a low balance in case you loose one of the cards..... This way you can open the safe with several cards....
