Default Internet Service on Ships

Hello! I am thinking of taking a cruise on Princess' ship: Crown or Caribbean. Has anyone use the internet services on these ships? I am thinking of taking my niece on the cruise with me but she'll need access to the internet for an online summer course she's taking.

1. What is the cost?
2. How is the connection and speed?
3. Can you access the internet via your own laptop?
4. Does wireless internet services (i.e. TMObile Hotspot) work on the ship?
5. Any other info you want to share!

Thanks!

The ship does have wirelss access, as well as an Internet Cafe with work stations.

You must purchase access from the ship, and can't use T mobile or any other service other than the ships.

Internet service is expensive, and very slow compared to land based high speed service. They sell packages which reduce the price, but if you spend alot of time online it's going to be BIG $$$.

Default Internet Service

Kuki's reply is right on target. I was taking a class at the community college (here in Texas) and when I got ready to travel I let the instructor know and he let me make the classes up when I returned. Your niece should be able to do this with an on-line course. The cost of taking a course on line while aboard a ship will be quite high.

Internet was so slow on Liberty of the Seas and cost 55 cent per minute. It took 2 to 3 minutes to get online so 2 dollars right there. If you use a lot of internet you should buy a package. From my experience you should create a fresh email account to check and send mail on your cruise time. You can save money on a loading time. It took forever to loading if you have a lot of read and unread emails in your account. Just my 2 cents.
