Default Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale

Looking for a hotel in Ft. Lauderdale to stay night before the cruise where you can leave your car -- for a 5 night cruise. Any ideas?

Tx.

The Amerisuites on 17th in Fort Lauderdale. Close to the airport and cruise port. And last I knew, you could park the car there for free.

AmeriSuites is being renovated and will be under the Hyatt umbrella from now on. I was booked there in April - and it was fine ... I've booked again (at that time) for November and next March and got the Value Trips rate even though VT doesn't cover it from November 1 through the end of the year.

At any rate, I advised some people who will be traveling with me to contact the hotel direct and ask for the Value Trip rate ... and some others to check on the free valet parking - they don't offer it any more though they still have free shuttle from airport and to the port. It's a very handy location - near a lot of good restaurants and close to the port.

The internet site for the hotel for November showed that it was sold out - it wasn't which is why you should contact them direct - and also to ask for the special rate.

When we were there, we took the car to the port and parked. I wasn't aware of the hotel parking at that time.

Check the date with your hotel, if there are conventions in town, the parking option goes out the window.

Yes, watch out on the parking at hotels. I just stayed ay the Ramada in Hollywood Beach and they charged $12 plus tax for daily parking of which I was unaware.

You can park at the port - last I knew it was $12 per day - which for a 5 night cruise means 6 days. On debarking, one of you would have to stay with the luggage while the other got the car. Also, believe you can now charge it to a credit card.

We always park at the port for $12/day.
We take 7-day [and 7 nights!] cruises and get charged $84.

And we charge it on a credit card.

We also have a porter take the luggage to our car and tip him well. But we're usually at Pier 26, which is right across the street.
