Default Last-minute crusier... any advice?

Hi. We've decided to go on a cruise, and we're hoping to go in three weeks... Does anyone have any experience booking a last-minute cruise? There seem to be lots of good deals out there.

Current thinking:
Carnival Elation -- 6 days to Baja Mexico from San Diego
Carnival Pride -- 7 days to Mexican Riveria
A Royal Caribbean cruise to the Caribbean...

Obviously, we haven't worked through all our details. But... any quick advice would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

Both excellent cruise lines. Depends on the ship as to which is the best deal. I prefer the design and layout of the RCI ships better. Western Caribbean cruises will be to jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel (or Calica on the Yucatan) and either Labadee or Key West usually. Eastern caribbean are more varied but usually include St. Thomas and St. Martin and maybe Puero Rico, or The Bahanas. I don't think much of the Pacific coast of Mexico but that's my opinion. Pack light ! You will usually not wear all of the clothes you bring. If you are like me you will live in T-shirts and a bathing suit most days.

Having lived in L.A. for 13 years, we've done a lot of the Mexican cruises along that coast. Personally, I would go for the Mexican Riviera. Baja is fairly small and ports don't have much to offer in comparison. The Elation is one of my favorite ships. I like the Pride okay, but it is a tad big for my tastes. Too many people in a small port make things less enjoyable for me. Just my preferences here.
