Default On Board Church Services

Has anyone ever gone to the church services on the ship? It just won't feel like sunday if we don't attend services. The only information I can find says they offer services and say to check the princess platter, but it would be nice to know what to expect before hand. We sail on the Golden Princess on Oct 13th.

Yes, there are church services on board. If a priest is on board, he'll do it. Or, sometimes a minister will do an inter-faith one.

I cruise the Emerald Princess, Eastern Caribbean on April 16, 2012

We've never sailed Princess but if they say they have a service I expect it will be similar to other lines. RCCL actually have a short half hour service (devotional) each morning and a better attended service Sunday. They are very ecumenical, sometimes led by a Catholic priest. Although we are Protestant, this has never been a problem. If there is only one clergy on board, an RC priest can do both services, whereas a Protesant Pastor can't do the Catholic mass. The last ship we were on, the Pastor (American)asked where people were from. When I shouted out 'Saskatchewan' we were shocked to find out his wife's family came from a tiny village about 6 miles from where we live!
We too find it good to add that significance to our Sunday on board ship....a day set apart. Also, a nice place to meet people of similar values and interests.
The services are usually held in one of the lounges or nightclubs, but possibly in a theatre or conference room.

Holland America usually has a priest onboard who conducts daily Mass. On Sundays, a Protestant minister will hold services. Otherwise, the priest will do it.

If there's no clergy on your ship, if you're in port, there may be a church of an acceptable denomination.
