Default Hitting the tan booth before a cruise

Going on a Western Caribbean cruise in November; should I hit the tanning booth a couple of times before I go so I won't burn?

Or (and I'm not sure this works) can I just get a "tan in a bottle" and do it that way?

to a fellow sooner!!

i always tan 4-5 times before we cruise. just to get a "base" tan. don't forget to wear plenty of sunscreen while you out. most importantly REAPPLY!!

have fun - BOOMER SOONER!!

A good self tanner will give you color - but NO protection. It's not a "real" tan, it just colors your skin.

If you do go the self-tanner route, wear as much sunscreen as you normally would in the beginning of summer.

I usually go to the tanning spa about a month before the cruise, go once a week until the last week before the cruise. Then I go twice, just to get the basic base. It works great for me, but you still need to be extra careful once in the sun down there.

While I don't recommend a lot of fake'n bake, I do a couple of tanning sessions pre-cruise ONLY to avoid burning when we hit the heat. I will still look pale compared to some, but that is preferrable to looking like a piece of old leather...never mind the skin cancer threat. Even though it doesn't seem really hot your first day or two on the ship, you can burn quickly. Use lots of sun screen.
