Default Crusing while pregnant?

Hello all,

I'll be 14 weeks pregnant when I go on my cruise. Thankfully I'll be out of the first trimester yuckiness but am curious if anyone has been cruising while pregnant and how did they like it?

the Mrs first cruise (a long time ago ) she was pregnant with our son, she did not like it at all! It was a 5-day transatlantic sailing on the QE2.
23 years later she's now done 49 cruises.

Thanks for the reply Captain.

What was it that she didn't like about it?

I seem to remember she was like 14-16 weeks pregnant AND it was her first time on a cruiseship, so I think both things might have contributed to her being sick and throwing up the entire sailing!
I remember her saying that she felt the ship's movement the moment we boarded the QE2 in New York City. I told her "Honey, the ship has not even moved yet!" And the entire Atlantic crossing was smooth-going, but that did not help much! The ship's doctor wanted to give her something but she frefused to swallow anything, I can still remember the doctor telling her that she had a bigger chance of doing damage to the baby she was carrying by taking nothing than any of the things he wanted to give her. Well baby, now 23 turned out just fine.
And the Mrs sure got over that first sailing!

Make sure you take your cruise "before" you enter your third trimester. Cruiselines do not allow a woman in her third trimester to sail.

Take care,
Mike

You should be ok. At least you are up to trying it.

Hopefully the food your craving will be available on the ship....heck, you can eat your way from midship Lido deck to back of Lido deck.....

HI Mai Lin, We cruised when I was 21-22 weeks pregnant. I was fine. I think how you will do is very personal.....have you been sick through your pregnancy thus far.....are you normally seasick when you cruise? This will factor into how you will feel.
We always use the Scopalamine patch when we cruise and my OB said it was okay to use while pregnant. We did Bermuda so I took it off while we were in port, just because I didn't want to wear it if I did not need it.
Try the wrist bands too, if you are prone to seasickness. You never know how you might feel, pregnancy changes everything.
I had thankfully just gotten over my severe nausea and food aversions before we left, so I was fine. Not quite up to my normal eating. Plus when you are pregnant you have those great stretchy pants/shorts! Eat up...your clothes will keep us with you! Our waiter was fabulous and always would bring me extra desserts and food because "the baby ordered it."
You will have a great time! I was memorable for us, as it was our last trip together pre-kids. Now cruising is very different.........
Hope this helps....any other specific questions?

Thanks for the reply!

Thankfully this pregnancy is starting out like my last - no sickness at all, just heartburn. I hope it stays that way!

Seabands are a given... they'll be coming with me for sure!

THanks for the info - I am looking forward to all the food!
