So, we're thinking of a 3-night Bahamas cruise in mid-October, but of course it seems like the riskiest time hurricane-wise.
Should I just not worry about it?

We went last Oct. to the Caribbean and we had the most perfect weather. It's risky that time of year, but the prices are a little cheaper. Don't worry about it and have fun.

We too always book at least one cruise, if not more, during the hurricane season, and we too have never had a cruise canceled because of weather. Yes, we have missed ports, and yes we do sometimes go to different ports, but more often than not it's a perfect time to cruise, and the prices are absolutely GREAT. Book the cruise, and if you're nervous, go ahead and get cruise insurance.
Have a wonderful cruise.
We often cruise in Oct, and only once had an issue. We were on the Zuiderdam, and the hurricane was due to hit Florida, when we would be docking to leave the ship.....
We missed one island, so the ship could hit San Juan to fuel up, in case we had to stay at sea...Something I would not have minded;) The hurricane stalled, so we were able to get off the ship and fly home...

My wife and I have also cruised in October many times . The weather has always been great. Prices are good and less kids aboard. We love to go that time of the year.
