What are everyones best suggestions for chaise lounge hogs?
If the 'primo' spots are taken, and no one goes near a lounge chair adorned with a single towel/magazine or something that appears to be just a place holder, after a half hour or so, my wife is prone to tossing the towel aside and homesteading the chair.
If there is a ton of stuff there (books & glasses & towel & beach bag, etc), we generally leave it alone.
Occasionally we will bring it to the attention of the cruise line attendants, but that will get you some mixed results.
What is your favorite way to deal with this?

Your approach to it seems reasonable to us, thought I would probably wait longer than a half hour before assuming the person may not return. It can take that long to get thru the line at the grill sometimes!
There are so many places on the ship to sunbathe aside from the "main" areas. We like the back of the ship on deck 11/Sports deck.

20 years ago we had Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Steve Jobs. Now we have no Cash, no Hope and no Jobs. Please don't let Kevin Bacon die.
To avoid this, we are always up and out by the pool early enough to get our desired spots..we are always up early any way, so this is not an issue.
Because of this, we see people decorating the chairs with books or towels, to 'hold" their spot.
I have no problem with people doing this, going to get their breakfast and coming back.. it takes really no more than 20 minutes or so to eat...
But, because we are out early, we see chairs go unused for hrs, literally. This is just not right. Someone just coming to the pool, has no idea how long it has sat there unused, and I think, the pool staff needs to be the chair police, not the pasengers. There have been arguments, and fisticuffs over this issue.
I wish someone who does this chair savings, would come post, and try and defend themselves:) I don't think it's going to happen:)

This has always been my biggest beef when cruising. I think a reasonable amount of time to go grab something to eat is perfectly fine, anything longer than that just shouldn't be acceptable. After between half an hour to an hour, if the chairs are not claimed, I think the chair police should remove personal property and free up the space, only fair.
I think it's absolute nonsense that anyone should "hold " a lounge at all. My wife and I usually enjoy a couple hours and then we get out of the sun before we overdue it. We have never held a cot or ever will, we just want to lay out when we feel like it, but never hold our place till we're ready. If we are relaxed on great lounge chairs and one of us wants to go to our room, eat or something we do it together and relinquish our seats. If everyone did this you would find 2/3 of all lounge chairs available at all times. I am fed up with the selfish people who hord cots and never use them! I've seen them do it at 7 in the morning and never come back. I have enjoyed some of there spots in the past, putting tere items on the deck under the cot, and no one ever came, but if they did come after an hour, I'd be happy to give it back to them, that hour would have been enough anyway.
Think I'll make a sign for my door that reads........
Or hang it all around the decks There's no question that it's annoying; some people just think rules are for other people I read on another thread that some folks are starting to 'reserve' theater seats now!
