Default Most Embarrassing Moment on a Cruise

This has probably been done before, but it might be fun to do it again.

What's YOUR most embarrassing moment on a cruise? I'll start.

My wife and I were on a Crystal Cruiseliner cruising the Mexican Riviera. Our cabin maid did an excellent job turning down the bed every evening. (you probably know where this is going).

One evening, my wife and I were "Doing What Married Couples Will Sometimes Do on a Romantic Cruise". I had forgotten to put the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door. Sure enough as we were in the throws of "Doin What Comes Naturally" I heard a tap on the door then the door opened. "Hello! Turndown Service" then "Gasp" Oh I'm SO Sorry" followed by "Giggle Giggle", "I guess I'll come back later" She then quietly closed the door.

When we saw her the next day, she acted like nothing had happened. I gave Her an extra $40.00 on the last day.

We had an outside cabin, and were in port with our side of the ship away from the shore. Drapes were open, and we were changing for lunch (we rarely go ashore) when without warning there was a face looking into our cabin! Yep, he did indeed get an eyeful as who would expect anyone to be scaling down the side of a cruise ship, 75 or 80 feet above the water? He was cleaning the windows. Well, we learned that no matter where your cabin is located, if you don't want to be seen, hang the "do not disturb" sign, and close the curtains.

It was the last day, they B kickin us off day, and I was wearing my going home clothes. I packed my flip flops and didn't feel like wearing my old/smelly/in need of replacement runners, thus, I went barefoot. The deck was wet, it was cleaned and there were puddles of water. I was walking carefully, but not quite careful enough...Thump, down I went....It didn't hurt as much as slipping and falling on ice (which happens once or twice a year at home in winter). I got up, took a bow and proceeded to go eat breakfast.

I could claim that I wasn't fully awake, because that would be a lie, I was up well before 6am watching the sail in from the blacony while my mom and niece slept.

My most embarrassing moment was after a a couple of hours lying by the pool in the blazing sun and guzzelling ice tea (and possbly a cocktail or two), I suddenly realized that I had to go to the ladies room ....bad. So, I got up and walked to a bathroom that I was unfamiliar with and never used before. I did what I intended on doing and as I was washing my hands, I realized there were two people standing in the doorway. As I looked up, thinking,"what are these ladies waiting there for", I realized that they were MEN. I then looked around. Apparently, I didn't notice the two urinals that were right by the entrance when I walked in, nevermind the MEN'S sign on the door!!!! Luckily the men just laughed and said as I was walking out, "don't worry we did the same thing yesterday"!!!

on my cruise in May 2007, I couldn't get my card to work; tried and tried; tried the boyfriend's and his worked, but mine wouldn't. (this was just after the sailaway party & I was feeling great ) so I go down to the pursers desk and hand them my card and said it didn't work; they said: Mam this card is for the Fascination, you are on the Inspiration (Lesson learned; take the old sail pass cards out of your wallet before the next cruise). I was soo embarrassed.!

one evening after dinner, the show, and a bit of casino time, i returned to my cabin. i was so tired and ready for bed that i didn't even switch on the lights over the bed, just visited the bathroom and jumped right into the sack. well, somehow i managed to fall asleep on the nighttime chocolate candy, and by morning that candy had melted and been smeared from one end of the bed to another (must have been a restless night!) i was sooooo embarassed because of what that chocolate appeared to be. i waited for the room steward so i could explain, but i don't think he understood at all.

Hombre, now I know why one person suggested bringing a plug in night light. Sure would have saved your "face".

In Honolulu my wife was parading nude around out balcony cabin which seemed a safe thing to do. I said, "honey, in cities with tall skyscrapers like this people often have telescopes in the living room. There could be 100 people looking at you right now."

She said "yeah, right!"

After we were picked up by friends and taken to their Honolulu highrise condo, we walked in and saw a big telscope looking out at the harbor.

They hadn't seen her, but could have.

On a Yangtze river cruise, I put on the kimonon-style robe ( slippers to head out to my massage. Well, they didn't plan very well because as i stepped down into the main atrium I slipped on the tiles because the slippers were soft cotton bottoms, and my robe went over my head.

On our Bermuda cruise a couple years ago, we were waiting for them to open the doors to the dining room for dinner.

I was standing next to my husband the whole time, then I stepped away to look at something. He thought I was still next to him and he put his arm around some guys waist. I saw the whole thing and I was dieing laughing.

My husband was mortified and the guy was in shock. My husb blurted out he thought I was next to him... and everyone had a good laugh!

Two come to mind - we rented a tux for my DH and when he tried it on, it was 14 sizes too big. no time to fix it, so I pinned up the back of it with some safety pins and off we went to meet the captain. Just before shaking his hand, Chris realized his shoe was untied and bent down to tie it - yup, all the pins let go. We have a great shot of us nad the captain and no one know I'm holding up Chris's pants.

About ten years later, we were cruising down the Yangtze and we were going to hit the first set of locks at about ten that night, so Chris went out onto our balcony to watch the ship manuever through. We had forward suites, which had a private entrance from the ship. What no one knew was that the crew locked those doors at night. Come about midnight, Chris suddenly realized he was locked out on the balcony. thankfully the captain understood sign language and sent someone to let him back in.

Life is never boring!

Default You will see where this is going

I was Jamaica on my first cruise. I met a friend and her husband at a Sandals resort. We went snorkeling... We then went back to their room to take a shower and rinse out my bathing suit before I got on the ship. When I went into the bathroom, I noticed my backside of my swimsuit was see through. At first when I asked my friend if she noticed it, she said no. Then I moved and she said "Oh yeah!" Great. I had another excursion in Grand Cayman swimming with the Stingrays. I thought what the heck. I won't ever see any of these people again. So I jumped in and realized all the crew and other people on the ship could see my back side when I was snorkeling. Oh who cares! I was on vacation....

Can you imagine the gentleman's predicament who received the tux intended for your DH?

On the old Westerdam, we sailed the music, from the 60's theme cruise. One of the stars was Johnny Tillotson. When he appeared onstage, he had Howdy Doody Hair..that shade of red/brown men use when they are of a certain age..:) I said to my husband he looked like he was embalmed.

Fast forward to the good bye show..while mingling with friends in the lobby area, I said. Did you see Johnny, he looked like he was embalmed The look in my friends eyes, was that of a deer in the headlight.

Suddenly, I had a tap on my shoulder, asking me, what I meant by that remark..you guessed it, it was Johnny! I though I would die right on the spot....Well I said," you looked a bit stiff in the final good bye...!!!!!!!!!!!

Luckily, a woman yelled, to take a picture with him, and he was gone.. The 4 of us scattered like kids at the playground...My worst moment ever, at sea or land!

It was on the Amsterdam. They have a mariners party where those who have sailed a certain # of days are recognized. My DH and I had received our 100 day medals and were very proud.
We were given them just before going into the dining room for a formal dinner. During dinner a table companion asked for a closer look at my "medal" as I leaned forward to show it off I dropped it in my soup! Talk about red ! It was red lobster bisque I was wearing a white gown. I was so distressed, I mean, talk about clumsy.
