Default Royal Caribbean Shareholder OBC question

Hello Everyone,

I don't know if this is the right forum for this question, but I recently discovered that if you buy stock in RCL, they give you an onboard credit of $50 to $250. I have some money in my IRA and have been holding out on purchasing any stock.
If anyone has any info on how this works, I would greatly appreciate it!

I guess specifically I am wondering...
1) Do you need to be a stock holder prior to booking? (I am already booked for this summer)
2) Is there a specific length of time that you need to hold the stock before you can get the credit?
and
3) How do you go about claiming the OBC to apply to your reservation?

You all have been so helpful throughout this process!!!
Thanks,
Jennifer

To get the OBC, all you need to do is send proof of 100 shares ownership to RCI and they will add the OBC to an existing booking. You don't need to have the stock prior to booking or for any length of time. RCI will accept a copy of your stock certificate or a copy of your brokerage statement for proof of ownership. You need at least 100 shares to get the OBC.

Thanks so much for the quick response!

I just got off the phone with my broker and should have my proof of owner ship by the end of the week!

Do you happen to know how the amount of the OBC works? Does it depend the the number of shares or the cost of the cruise?

Thanks again,
Jen

If you go to the investors part of the RCI website you should be able to call up a pdf file of the annual report. Somewhere in it should be the procedure, including a fax number, for you to use to complete this shareholder request.

As an fyi for future cruises, this credit is available for Royal Caribbean and Celebrity, and I would assume Azamara as they are all part of RCI.

If you decide on a future cruise with Holland America, Carnival, Princess, Seabourn, or Costa, you will need 100 shares of CCL (Carnival) to have a similar shareholder credit.

This should be my final newbie question in regards to this topic anyway...

I followed your instructions and faxed my information to RCI.
Will they send some sort of confirmation that the OBC has been applied to my reservation or do I have to wait to get on the ship to find out?

Again...many thanks,
Jen
