Default Packing...idea no one has though of yet.

I haven been on my cruise yet....going in September...Ive been reading HUGE, LONG 'what to pack' list. Ive been looking at pictures too and had a great idea of something new to pack...Im going to take small note pad and pen on our excursions etc to take a pic of where we are. For example: In Cozumel we plan on renting a car and visiting several beaches on our own. I Love taking pictures. So at each stop I will write So and So Beach....Snap a pic of my note...That way I will remember all of my pictures after the note is at So-and-so beach. We have been on vacation before and our pics get all jumbeled up. Maybe this will help organize them. It could be cool to write in the sand also.....but the notepad is still good for buildings, statues, plants etc....

Hope this makes sense...

What a great idea if you have a digital camera and lots of extra storage cards with you.

I set the date to display on my pics and jot down what we do on each island. I usually use the date and our itinerary log to remind me of where the picture was taken. My camera also does video and for that I usually make a comment as I'm recording about the site.

Enjoy your cruise!

There is a gadget you can get for digital cameras that tags each photo with the GPS of the location you took the picture.

Its like a bluetooth thing where you "synch" with the camera before you start taking pics, you hook the gadget to the strap or your person, then when you are done taking pictures, you resynch the gadget via the PC and it will embed the coordinates onto the pic.

The gadget is in one of those geek or sharper image type magazines.

It sounds like a great idea, but when you get there you might be having too much fun or taking too many pictures to write it all down. I suggest getting a journal and write down each days events and that way you can remember what went on that day. I did that and things you might forget are remember because it is written down..

Happy sailing...September is too long away, I wish it was closer!!!

I have learned to take a picture that includes a sign with port's name as soon as we disembark. When visiting several beaches, I write the name of the beach in the wet sand (sometimes with our footprints or toes included ) and snap a picture. Provided I print my pics in chronological order, I'll know where we were.

I take a picture of the front of my daily caper every morning, before I take any pics for that day. It gives me the date, ship and location of the next group of pics on my card. I also take a picture of signs at each location that I go to, so I can identify the pictures that I take in that area.

When I take my laptop with me, I also spend a few minutes each day, writing a little journal of what we did, where we went, costs, etc.

We've used a few different ideas to mark where we've been. 1) Take a photo of the name of the port as you get off the ship 2) we like to take a photo of a license plate in each port. It's the same as #1 but at least it gives a little more local flavor.

I also do a daily journal in a notepad - writing down the day's highlights and names of specific places so that I can mark them down in the photo album (or caption the online pics) when we're back.

Just thought I would add my two cents. I also do a journal. One page per day, highlight of the activities that day. At the start of each cruise I put in the details, (date - assigned staff - table mates, etc.) I take the same book on each cruise. When I get home I do a quick type up on the computer, filling in a little more detail. If I have done alot of video I print out a copy and keep it with the dvd.

Safe travels.

I like this idea - but I find I rarely have a problem remembering where I was, especially since the pictures all come up in chronological order.

Use the photo wizard in windows to move your pictures to your laptop, that way they all get sequenced under a filename you choose. makes it easy.

You can also enable the date function and bring home your daily programs. Then youw ill know where you were any given day.

Good basic planning, though. Great concept.
