Default Room Booze

Most cruise lines forbid this as they like to sell you drinks at the bars for whatever they want to charge. Some lines do, however, allow you to purchase a bar set-up for you room. Just contact their passenger service rep.

That being said, smuggling does happen. If you opt for this, just keep in mind that all bags are x-rayed and if anything looks remotely like a liquor bottle your bag will be flagged for an up close and personal inspection. If liquor is found, they generally hold it for you and return it before debarkation. Most lines do have verbage in their agreement that they could deny boarding if they find liquor in your baggage, but I've never heard of them actually doing that. They do, after all, want you on board so you will spend $$$$.

Let you conscience be your guide.

Are you under 21? What cruiseline are you on? They watch the bags of underage cruisers more closely.

I had to ask the last time someone posted this question we later found out they were 16 not 39.

http://www.hollandamerica.com/cruise...rdGifts.action
Holland America on board gifts department phone number is Ship Services department at 1-800-541-1576
you want to have this information handy: guest's last name and booking number OR last name, ship name and sail date. This is interesting:
Q. What does the Signature Cocktail gift card include?

The Signature Cocktail gift card is good for 10 predetermined specialty cocktails, but does not include well-drinks. The signature cocktails vary between season, ships and destinations. If you would like to see a sample selection, call Ship Services at 1-800-541-1576.

Man Holland America really hides their liquor policy but I found it.

Bringing Alcoholic Beverages Onboard

Except for wine and champagne, alcoholic beverages purchased in the vessel's shops or otherwise brought on the ship cannot be consumed on the ship. Bottles and other containers will be collected for safekeeping and delivered to your stateroom on the last day of the voyage.

A corkage fee of US$15.00 applies to wine and champagne brought to the restaurants or bars for consumption.

Room Service offers reduced-price stateroom beverage packages for in-stateroom consumption of alcoholic beverages.

I think you can bring a bottle of wine on board because it say Except for wine and champagne. I have not cruise Holland America before, but Carnival allow one bottle of wine per person. I hope this help you. If you want hard liquor (rum ) call the on board gift and see if you can have a bottle delievered to your room. Carnival does this and I think Holland does to. Let us know what happens.

Default Wine

On HAL you can bring all the wine and champagne you want for consumption in your room. If you want to take a bottle of wine to the dining room they will charge a $15 corkage fee.

Nothing at all allowed on NCL. They will confiscate wine, champagne, liquor etc and return it to you at the end of the cruise.
Personally i think it sucks that you cannot take on board a bottle of wine or champagne to celebrate a birthday or anniversary. After all if you take on one bottle, obviously you drink alcohol and therefore are very likely to buy more on the ship.

I have taken a bottle of booze in my checked luggage on several Celebrity cruises and one RCCL cruise. Never had a problem, my bottle has allways made it.
