Are there any cruise lines offering the freestyle like NCL?

Not to the extent of NCL, with six to 10+ alternative restaurants, but there are many cruise lines that offer open seating, alternative restaurants and eat when you want dining.

These are:

Azamara Cruises
Oceania Cruises
Regent Seven Seas
Seaborne

Princess offers Anytime Dining, Holland American has "As You Wish Dining and Carnival has one ship, don't remember which one, that has an open seating restaurant.

The Princess and Holland America open seating are either a separate open seating restaurant or an area or level of a restaurant dedicated to open seating.

Take care,
Mike

I believe it's being tried aboard Carnival "Miracle".

Carnival is putting anytime dining on all ships. One dining room will do regular while the other one does anytime.

Just off "Legend", and they have "open seating" offered in a section of the upper level of the dining room. (that ship has only 1 dining room). I didn't hear any comments, positive or negative regarding the open seating dining, but they were pushing it pretty hard! (I opted for my usual early seating, even though they tried to assign "open seating" to me)

Take Royal and eat buffet. If not so sure, go to The Seattle Times and search their archived articles of NCL August 2005, or write directly to their travel staff. Norwegian has burned so many people on their Alaska runs that I cannot fathom how they are in business. They have newer ships now, and I am sure there are flexible people who go with the flow, but they have burned so many people...myself included. We changed ships so fast and were 100% happy with Royal...we just ate at the buffet which was just fine.

I cannot give an exhaustive list but I know Princess has Anytime Dining, and Carnival has Open Dining on some ships, the Carnival Liberty included(I know because I was offered this option). Be warned that on most ships there can be a wait to be seated. I also know that on NCL the only free dining area is the dining room. Personally I prefer a fixed time and more free options than a time that isn't fixed and more paid restaurants.
