Default Create your own cruise line

If you could create a cruise line that would be your dream come true, What would you want to do to create it?

What kind of dining, cuisine, Free beverages?

What kind of entertainment?

What kind of fun attractions?

What kind of itineraries?

What kind of intellectual programs?

What age bracket would you cater to?

What financial bracket would you try to attract?

What would be that special something that you would offer that would set your cruise line apart from all the rest?

What size ships would you operate?

Add anything else that you would to to make up "John Doe" cruise lines.

This should be fun!

What kind of dining, cuisine, Free beverages? Around the world cruises; would have cuisine of a different country every night. However, there would be a standard fish, Vegan, and chicken dish to cater to all tastes. Free beverages would include a good quality coffee, Ice Tea, Orange Juice, Apple Juice, and fruit punch. I would offer an alcohol card the cost would vary depending on the number of nights.

What kind of entertainment? Folk Dance Troupes from differnet countries (Irish, Portuguese, and some bellydancers) would perform on the Lido deck. The main shows would be the normal Vegas style shows, comdeians, singers, and Cruise passager talent show (like the legends show on Carnival)

What kind of fun attractions? The ship would have a waterslide and water park for the kids. An adult only area with a thassotherapy pool (sp) free of charge. The Spa would offer treatments from all around the world like eyebrow arch by threading, or waxing. We would have deck parties 2 nights on a seven day cruise. On the 14 day Hawaiian cruise there would be 2 deck parties and a luau, with fire dancers. Classes to learn the different folk dances you have seen on board. Trivia questions based on movies and different countries. We would one night on a seven day cruise show a really good forgien film.

What kind of itineraries? We would cruise out of the west coast hitting ports must lines don't hit like La Paz Mexico. I believe this is an area ripe for the picking. We would cruise out of San Diego. We would also do 14 day Hawaiian cruises.

What kind of intellectual programs? We would have programs explaining the history and cultural of different countries. If you are going to Mexico then you could learn about the Mayans. Are you going to Hawaii you can learn how the native people lived before Captain Cook. Cook classes to learn some of the interesting meal you enjoyed in the dining room. Also basic langage classes.

What age bracket would you cater to? 30 year olds and up, but also Familes with kids over 5. No kids under 5 would be allow on board.

What financial bracket would you try to attract? Mid to high income.

What would be that special something that you would offer that would set your cruise line apart from all the rest? Interesting ports, and a unique on board experience.

What size ships would you operate? About the size of the Conquest class. Our shortest cruise would be seven days.

Add anything else that you would to to make up "John Doe" cruise lines.

This should be fun!

What kind of dining, cuisine, Free beverages? Formal dining every evening. The food would be a different ethnic selection, such as Indian, Caribbean, French, Southern, ect. This would be prepared by renowned chefs who would specialize in each ethnic type. (such as Paula Dean or Emeril) There would be complementary wines with dinner that would match the type of food being served. Also, you would get free drinks such as sodas.

What kind of entertainment? Current Broadway productions. Various music artists from genres such as Country, Rock, Pop, Classical, and Cultural. Comedians such as Jeff Foxworthy and others.

What kind of fun attractions? Each cruise would be a theme based cruise. For example, we could have a Who Dunit Mystery Cruise , a Literary Cruise (have current authors doing readings and book signings), Singles Only, Brides to Be ( have different wedding type products available), Wine Lovers Cruise, ect. Some evenings would be a masked ball or a costume ball.

What kind of itineraries? Asia, Europe, Middle East, Australia, Africa.

What kind of intellectual programs? Self help, weight loss, marriage and relationship, financial advisors, have people such as Dr. Phil to help with any issues.

What age bracket would you cater to? Ages 21 and above. No children.

What financial bracket would you try to attract? Any who would be able to afford it.

What would be that special something that you would offer that would set your cruise line apart from all the rest? All cabins would be Balcony Suite and would have its own personal butler, ladies would her their own personal lady’s maid.

What size ships would you operate? Small to Medium

Add anything else that you would to to make up "John Doe" cruise lines. Every cruise someone would win a Free Cruise or get a refund on their current one.

tbowman I wish I could afford your cruiseline. It's just a little out of my price range. I love formal night and could do it every night.

this is a staid answer i know: choose a holland america cruise -- launderies on the smaller ships, international cuisine, large staterooms with plush towels and superior bedding, spas, thalo pools on vista class, and magrodomes to protect pools from the weather; first class service, good food, pool towels everywhere, teak deck chairs on lower promenade, unlimited ice cream and tea/coffee, and on and on and on. i could not improve on a hal cruise.

and, for the most part, civilized people who love cruising, with all of its ins and outs.

Default Fireba11 cruise lines

My personal cruise line..

My cruise line would be all-American and would only employ Americans. First I would use mostly 77,000 to 90,000 ton ships with the exception of two 28,000 ton ships with which I would run the great lakes with.
My ships would be dedicated to the many different parts of the country. The Northeastern Ship Would have big city, New York, Boston, style decor, and would be based out of NYC. The Southeastern Ship would have plantation style decor and be based out of Savannah, GA. The Southwestern ship would have an Adobe style decor and be based out of Galvaston, TX. The Californian ship would have a beachy fresh air type appearance and be based out of Los Angeles. The Northwestern ship would have a log cabin, ranch type decor and run out of Portland, OR. The two small Midwestern ships would have a corn belt type decor and run out of Chicago, IL. and Buffalo, NY.

My cruise line would be All-inclusive with the exceptions of gifts and photos bought in our shops. There would be no Casinos on our ships and no tipping. We would cater to a 40 plus middle class crowd and have very limited activities for children.

Food.
We would have 5 different restaurants on our ships. Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse, Red Lobster, Chinese, and a restaurant that would serve whatever flavor that particular ship was representing.(such as southwestern) There wouldn’t be any set dining times as all restaurants would be open from 11am to 9pm. There would be a breakfast buffet on the Lido deck but no permanent buffet. A Hamburger and hotdog and pizza and ice cream stand would also be on the Lido deck open 24/7. Coffee, iced tea, lemonade and soft drinks would be available at all bars. The staffers would actually bring you a lemonade just as fast as they would bring you a beer.

Entertainment.
Broadway style shows, comedians, circus acts in the big theater. First run movies earlier in the day too! Big screen movies under the stars theater on lido deck aft. There would be a disco, country club, Piano bar, blues bar and a ballroom dancing bar. 3 pools with the Main pool Olympic size. Roller coaster, country fair setting with rides. A free Spa with free messages,

Itinerary
We would be a port per day cruise line. Change itineraries every year so as to mix it up a little. Go to Islands and places that others don’t and spend full days as much as possible in Ports. Our ships would offer 7 day and longer cruises only with the exception of the great lake cruises which might be shorter of necessity.

Learning at Sea
We would offer certified scuba diving classes as well as classes on the art of the message. Internet and computer classes and well as dance classes everyday in their respected lounges. Other such activities too.

Overall this cruise line would try to stay competitively priced but because of the all inclusiveness of the cruise line would more then likely be double what one would normally pay for a cruise. If you are like me though, I normally spend as much on the ship for everything as the cruise actually cost me to begin with.

These are just some ideas. Would you cruise with me?

Interesting idea, part of it I like part I don't. I think the California ship should cruise out of San Diego, not Los Angeles. Also the chinese restaurant should be PF Chang's China Bistro.

The closest ship to this is the Pride of America it has an all american crew and no casinos. Because it has an all american crew it doesn't have to cruise to an international port. They do 7 day cruises in the Hawaiian islands, they do a port a day (with some overnight ports), and freestyle dining. In fact you may want one ship themed for the south pacific our of Oahu, Hawaii that just cruises this area.

Oddly enough I think you should market to Eurpoean and Asian markets. I think these ships would be real popular with these tourists. When my hubby and I went on our National Park Tour (Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Arches, and Bryce Canyon) I was surprised at how many Eurpoeans were there.

I know I am going to regret this, but what is "corn belt decor"?
Marty

And, regardless of the answer to the above, I do not do and would not do all inclusive. I don't like paying for things that I probably won't enjoy, and since one drink is usually my alcohol splurge for a week, it would be a waste of money. But, I'm wierd that way. And I know it!

actually, ccrazie, i was wondering myself about 'corn belt' decor. i've lived lots of places, including the 'corn belt' but could not get a bead on it. maybe this is the latest thing we just don't know about -- what with ethanol and all. does it mean corn stalks instead of flower arrangements? or dried corn cobs on the doors of staterooms? or live corn instead of tropical plants on the lido? or a huge ear of corn painted on the hull - as in 'the corn of the seas'? or the norwegian corn? or maybe livestock shows and judgings, with lots of pigs? send us all a message, poster.

now, being from the south, and georgia specifically, i do like that southern themed idea. ah, the tara of the seas; the o'hara lounge; the belle whatling spa; the rhett butler disco; mammy's bistro; prissy's boutique; the melanie wedding chapel; and, of course, pittypat's balcony in the main show lounge. and fried chicken, collard greens, cornbread with cracklin's, black-eyed peas, yams, and bbq pork in the twelve oaks dining room. accompanied by muscadine wine and good old corn likker. now that i would book immediately.

Corn belt decor would have a farming type theme. Miss Piggy's Cafe, Horney Goat Disco, A Salon that features mud treatments. Cabins designed with Barns in mind. John Deere Atrium, Hay Stack Theatre, Corn Crib piano bar
I think you can get the drift.

maybe there should just be a 'teen' ship. that would solve the problems of the previous posters - no dress code, no dining room manners, no dining room at all, pizza and ice cream at all venues, no one over 20, no parents or chaperones, free beer and liquor, lectures on birth control, and endless disco -- or whatever they call it these days. this sounds just great; it could be called the 'hormone of the seas' or the 'crystal hormony'.

I like the idea of a roller coast on board. Would you charge? Do you want a ship bigger the the Oasis of the Seas? Would you have a formal night dress? When you say better pools is that just adding the water slides or do you want wave pools. Cause I like the idea of a pool with a current that you swim against. I'm not sure a waterslide would work with that pool. However, you can have a waterslide (kid/teens only pool), a wave pool (all ages), Flowrider (all ages), and a Thassotherpy pool (adult only). Us old farts need the thassotherpy pool after a long day in port.

This teen didn't say anything offense or rude I don't understand you reply? Is it a tongue and cheek reply or a stir the pot kind of thing. I'll admit I like the name. I want a ship for pregnant ladies called the "Hormonal of the Seas."

umm i might charge extra for the roller coaster if its cool enough lol. i never thought of wave pools i just meant slides and stuff but thats pretty cool also a pool with a current would be cool so you can actually work out and be having fun at the same time, and if its possible to have a ship bigger than the Oasis of the Seas then that would be pretty cool too! and ya formal nights are pretty cool too i like getting to dress up sometimes

and to the other person that sounded mad cuz of what i said it was my opinion i wasnt trying to be rude sorry

I was thinking about your teen ship. In Las Vegas the Golden Nugget hotel has a water slide with a clear tube that goes through a shark tank. I wonder how that would work on a ship? Take a look.

oh -- and of course a card(iologist) room!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, these ships I have envisioned would probably fly pretty well in Europe and S.E. Asia. Maybe have a set of ships themed on countries like France, Italy, England, Australia and China operating out of the U.S.A.
