Default The toilet fees are soon here!

Ryanair is thinking about charging for visits to the toilet so everyone who think that the most important thing with the flight to your port is that it's cheap, enjoy!

If Ryanair decide to do it, I guess that the "low cost no service" airlines in America will follow.

No problem. I can't afford to drink beer aboard the aircraft anymore anyway, so I won't be needing to visit the toilet either.

I can remember years ago when department stores, movie theaters and other semi-public places tried to charge for toilet use by requiring you to put a coin in a gizmo on the stall doors. Didn't last long since the bloody things kept jamming or breaking and cost more in maintenance than they were worth. Plus, when there was a line in the ladies room, each of us would just hold the stall door open for the next one when leaving. Sort of a very quiet group protest!

Debbie,
Getting older is tough....but I have also found that it can be funny, too. And even fun.

You can bet your sweet bippy, no matter how low the fare was..I would NOT book the airline. This is added revenue, at the expense of the passengers. Shame on them!

I wonder if Ryan will set up a depends concession in the terminal

As far as Ryannair is concerned they can keep their low rates. We flew on them in Europe once and don't expect to do it again. When you fly on Air France or Iberia or other european airlines you get food and drinks even on a short flight.
We flew on Lufthansa last year from Frankfort to Lisbon and on a 2 hour flight we had wine or beer and food all free of charge.

People accept to pay extra for their luggage, I think that they will accept the toilet fees too.

I should never fly with an airline like Ryanair but people do their own choice. If other people think that it's okej to pay extra for luggage, water, toilet ... it's up to them but I won't do it!

Ryanair are also planning to remove ALL their personnel from the airports, everything shall be done online.

Manuel, you got wine and food on Lufthansa? I'm glad if that's correct because Lufthansa was one of the first airlines to remove thoose things. On short flights in Europe, most airlines now charge for food and alcoholic beverages.

British Airways is the only airline I know which always serves drinks and something to eat on short flights.

I also remember those "pay" toilets at the airport when I was a kid. What will they think of next??

A pay toilet at the airport is one thing, Ryanair will have them on the plane.

To be honest, I'm not 100% sure that they have decided to do it but they are thinking about it.

Here's old for you. Ancient Romans used urine in their dry cleaning process. So dry cleaners would actually pay you to pee. Yeah, I know, ew.

I think that if airlines start to have toilet fees that it will cost them more to clean the airplanes...

If I may quote Katlady from one of her posts on a another thread we need to have the right to (PISS IN PEACE) .
What does this airline think this will do to their business?

As long as people accept it, it's good for their business!

I don't like it but I'm not one of their customers so that I don't like it is no problem for them!

Usually, with any announcements that one airline makes, others follow...don't be surprised when others jump on this sleezy tactic....bring your depends, or pepto bismal

My suggestion is, always fly with an airline where you can pee for free!

One thing about the idea of pay for toilet use is that it is probably illegal cause of health issues, and even if it isn't it would be an ill advised business move.

I can't see how it can be an illegal cause of health issues, they don't say that you can't use the toilet but you have to pay to do it. If that's an illegal cause of health issues, it must be the same to say that someone has to pay for food.

Is it still prohibited to use the toilets on some short flights because of 9/11?

Well, if you think of it this way, it could be seen as a possible business health code violation since it would force someone to hold onto something that harms their bodies. If you will notice, most regulations and laws are intended to prevent harm and do not force anyone to help another person. Shame too. I have met a few people who could do with something to keep their conscience in check.

I understand your point but they really don't force anyone to hold on to something that harms their bodies, people are allowed to use the toilet but they have to pay for it.

Isn't that similar to that hungry persons still have to pay for food? Everyone is allowed to eat, if they pay for the food.

As said before, the toiletfees aren't here yet but they might come.

I guess my point is, stay away from airlines where you have to pay to pee! Some people think that it's great that it's very cheap to fly with some airlines but in my opinion, they have gone too far with all the extra costs.

They might say that the ticket cost $10 but when taxes, booking fees, luggage fees, check in fees etc. are added, the ticket cost much more. When they also charge extra for a glass of water or for use of the toilet, I think that they have gone too far.

I like JetBlue........great free extras and low fares, but unfortunately they don't fly to enough places.

Default Pay Toilets

I recall those pay toilets when I lived in East Tennessee. Seems one gas station operators in town was going to reap great benefits from his 10 cent charge to use the rest room. Kids started putting bubble gum in the slot and it reached the point to where no one could use the rest room. Then customers started "filling" up their gas tanks with just one gallon of gasoline. The operator finally got the message and took the coin mechanism off the door.

In Sweden pay toilets are very common. In my town we have pay toilets both on the railwaystation and in malls.
