Itinerary indicates 6:00 am debarkation at San Juan, PR. What's the estimated time we'll be off the ship? How long will the debarkation process take? Need to figure out so I can book departure flight out of San Juan to Chicago appropriately. Don't want to miss our flight nor do I want to sit around for hours at the airport, just waiting.
Depends how long it takes to clear customs. They won't begin debarkation at 6:00, maybe around 7:30 or 8:00. Most cruise lines have guidelines for the earliest you should book flights on debarkation days at each port. They also often debark in order of your departure time.

Better to have to sit and wait at the airport than to miss a flight. When we fly, we allow lots of time and take a book. Things usually go smoothly, but things can happen to delay disembarkation. Depends on customs and immigration....which applies to crew as well as pax.
The Carnival guideline is do not book before 12 Noon although others may be different. Allow extra time because San Juan airport can be a zoo. Also be aware that you will need to check in at USDA inspection in the airport prior to checking in with your airline. 8)
I book for a next or two day flight back after the cruise. Then I wait until they force me to get off of the ship and I relax over night before having to fly back.
Life is too short to let the ship of your dreams sail without you.
