Default Annual increase of international tourism receipts

Almost all prominent resorts and hotels in Kerala give much importance to international tourism. This is due to the fact that the earnings during the peak tourism season are much more than that gained during the off season. Another notable aspect could be the size of travel receipts and their growth during favorable tourism seasons. With each passing year, the prominent resorts and hotels are continuously revamping their marketing strategies to attract more visitors to the state. Some of the prominent resorts even offer web pages and information brochures in scores of international languages.

The average annual increase in tourism receipts is rather significant since the liberalization of the Indian economy in early 1990. Until the early 1990s the major revenues from tourism went to the advanced countries. It can be seen that the major chunk of tourism receipts and also their arrivals were shared by the continent of Europe followed by the North American region. Thus, the predominant beneficiaries were the developed countries and, indeed, only a small share went to the lesser developed countries.

In Kerala packages were developed to attract people with different tastes and preferences. Such an approach became popular rather late. If package tourism model had been introduced rather earlier, more earnings from tourism would have resulted in phenomenal changes in the present tourism infrastructures. After the introduction of packaged tourism in the 1990s there was a significant increase in the annual international tourism receipts.

The significance of the tourism packages on offer is that all the packages are packed with enough leisure, health and massage options and a host of culinary delights. Not only that, a tourist has the freedom to avail additional benefits at local costs. Due to the increasing advances in e-commerce, a tourist can make the necessary bookings through the credit card from his home country itself. Not only that, he can even make a virtual tour through the luxury amenities that he is going to avail during a particular package. Hotels and resorts that have made such options for a visitor have been able to attract more visitors.
