We will be on the Mariner OTS over Halloween. I understand they will have a Halloween party.
We are traveling in a party of 23 people. Half the people LOVE to get dressed up for Halloween, the other half of us don't like to do it and have no imagination. But....I feel that we should give it a try (I'm one that does not enjoy it and has NO imagination).
Anyway - here is my question. Does anyone have any ideas for the 10 of us who don't have any imagination? It needs to be easy and not take up much space (obviously). We also don't want to spend a lot of money on a costume, as it will most likely only be worn once!
Any ideas will be appreciated as we just can't think of anything.

I once saw a group of people aboard a cruise on Halloween, who all had T-Shirts which read "he/she was supposed to pack the costume", with an arrow pointing to one side or the other.
Last night I googled "Group costume ideas" and came up with TONS of ideas...

"SKY"
hahaha - that's a good one!!!
I am definitely going to suggest that one to one of the couples going with us who will NOT wear a costume. Maybe I'll just make the signs and pin them to them as a surprise!!
I have been looking at lots of costumes on line and also at party supply stores. I never realized there were so many places to get fairly inexpensive and easy costumes. Thanks for everyone's help...I think we have it under control now!!

Let us know what costume you decide on.

As it turns out, the lovely Mrs. Jones and I will be aboard "Glory" for Halloween, so now I've got to figure out something. Maybe I'll use my own suggestion with the "She was supposed to pack the costume" T-shirts. I'll let y'all know.
I dressed up as Pippi Longstocking last year on a Halloween cruise, ha!
I didn't think people would really get into the Halloween spirit but they certainly did. Staterooms were decorated, doors were decorated, the ship was decorated, there was a costume judging contest, etc., we had a blast. The people that were not in costume felt out of place, I'm sure. I'm SO GLAD I dressed up and brought decorations for our door. You don't have to spend a lot of money, I found all my decorations in a local Party store.
Since you are going on a cruise I also like the Gilligan's Island idea. The ship could "set sail" with seven castaways (and maybe a few headhunters.) If you're lucky maybe you'll be stranded at an all inclusive resort with little chance of rescue.

I think we are all finally ready for Halloween!!
I told everyone that they will feel really out of place if they are not dressed - so now everyone has come up with something to wear. I passed on a couple of suggestions that you guys mentioned. We are all keeping our costumes a "secret", so I have no idea what the others are wearing at this point in time.
I do have decorations for all 12 doors (they do not know anything about that)...and I plan to put them on the doors the first night after they have all gone to bed for the night. Hopefully, they will be pleasantly scared, uh I mean surprised when they see their doors in the morning!!
My ex sister-in-law and brother-in-law once went to a party and won first prize by blackening around their eyes with black shoe polish and wearing tee shirts with a big letter "P" written on it. Blackeye peas......
About decorating the doors.....I can't remember - are they metal? And does anyone know the approximate width of the doors on the Mariner OTS? ..... and will I be able to use scotch tape on the doors???
If anyone has decorated their doors before, please let me know how you held the decorations on.
Halloween was great. We decorated 12 doors (in our group) after they went to bed the first night. When they woke up the next morning, they could not figure out who did the decorating. The next day in Cabo, we went into each room and decorated each balcony. Of course, that was no surprise because they had to let us in their rooms.
We all wore costumes instead of formals on the second to last night of the cruise. We were given the option, and our costumes were a lot more comfy than the formals. After dinner there was a parade and a Halloween party. They had the promenade fully decorated for Halloween.
If we ever do a cruise over October 31 again, we will know that they DO have fun for Halloween!!
I was a witch (a "cute" one...not an ugly one) and my husband was Dracula.
We had a set of bikers, men in black, a priest, a nun, a rabbi, another Dracula, a hippie, an old lady, Pocahantas, a cowboy, a couple from the 20's, a nurse, a pirate and someone who had wings, but I'm not sure what she was!!
We really had a good time, and everyone got in the spirit (even those of us who do not usually dress for Halloween).
