Default Nightlife at Various Ports of Call

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help answer our question.

We love to cruise, but at some destinations, we hate having to get back aboard before we had a chance to experience the local nightlife.

Do you know of any cruises to the Mediterranean (or elsewhere) where the ship does not leave until the following day?

Check out cruises from Venice. Many of them start or end with an overnight. I know some of the cruises we have looked at have some very late departures or overnight stays. This seems a little more common in the Mediterranean than in the Caribbean. Also look at some of the more high end lines.

Thanks Bob. Which higher end cruises are you referring to?

There are many cruises that have overnights in the Med. Venice is a favorite overnight for many cruises.

I also suggest that you do a pre or post cruise layover for a Mediterranean cruise. Venice, Barcelona, Rome and Alexandria are great overnight ports with interesting nightlife, great restaurants, great sites and history and fun clubs.

I suggest checking Azamara, Oceania, Regent and NCL for some great itineraries.

For Hawaii Pride of America NCL ship has a lot of over night stays. It's a seven day cruise.

There are some South American cruises that have an overnite or two - you
will either need the use of a travel agent to screen these trips out or check each cruiseline's itineraries., online. I think there are a few cruises to Tahiti
and the South Pacific that have overnites, as well. I am looking at a
cruise next Oct. 2010 to Italy on Azamara's "Quest" that has three overnites: Venice, Florence and Sorrento. You can get soooooo much
more out of a destination when you are able to spend some extra time
at each. As Europe tends to be a very "port intensive" --- these "overnites"
are very appealing to us.
