Grand turk

I'm a first time cruiser; sailing with HAL next week. What's there to do in Grand Turk without booking an excursion?? Can you get to beach, snorkeling on your own? Thanks.

Yes, there are beaches within walking distance of the ship. Snorkeling, too, although you might need to have your own gear. I don't know if there are any places there that rent snorkeling equipment.

You can always walk around the cruise center and then find a chair with your name on it at Margaritaville....They have a pool if you don't want to swim in the sea, it is a very large pool!

The beach has a lot of deck chairs to use, but if you walk further downto the left of the pier you can probably find a quiet spot to enjoy yourself away from everyone else, but there is no swimming area marked off. The swimming area at Grand Turk relates to where the wall drops off. There was an aerial photo I saw of the water and the drop off isn't that far off from the shore!

You can probably catch a cab and go into town to see the town if you wish.

Basically with this port area, which Carnival built, you just walk off the ship and down the pier. There is a beach to the left..if you walk on past the beach, you will find yourself in the shopping area, which has some nice shops, and a super sized Carnival area, with everything you can buy onboard, just more of it...The pool is there to enjoy as well. Next time, I would like to venture into the town...
