Do not insure your trip with Travelsafe [Travel Mate] which I purchased through InSureMyTrip. I had to cancel my trip 2 days before leaving. I filed my claim in a timely manner { their web page states that they process claims in 5 business days]. Since then I have been given the run around, each time you speak to them you get, “we didn’t receive you claim”, until you tell them you have a signed receipt. This is now a month later and I still haven’t received a call or payment. When you call them now they state they are backlogged with no idea when the claim will be paid.
I have tried to get InsureMyTrip to help but it seems that they are getting the same responses I have. I have filed a claim with the BBC and I’m in the process of notifying the Attorney General in my area.
I had to have surgery 2 days before my cruise. I have to go for physical threapy for 3 months 2 X a week. I was out of work for 3 weeks. My doctor has submitted all the information they asked for, I also submitted hospital records.
One of the most frustrating things to deal with is insurance claims. Call them frequently to at least put them on notice you are on the ball, and will not drop it...When consumers do their part, and companys don't, it's infuriating! Please kepp us abreast of what happens..good luck.

If you know an attorney - perhaps they can write a letter on their letterhead. That usually gets an insurance company's attention. You don't have to sue, at least not yet.

If the tv station in your area has a consumer reporter, give them a call. With all the travel issues right now, this could be a story, they could want to help with...we have 2 great ones here, who have helped out people with just these kinds of issues..worth a shot.

Good luck getting your claim resolved.
For Trip and others, I used to use CSA as well, but InsureMyTrip changed my mind. I only get medical and evacuation and CSA reserves the right to evacuate you to the nearest port, and it is totally their decision. If I need to be evacuated, I want to be back in the US, not just for quality of care, but also ease of eventually getting back home. I read the fine print of several different companies before uncovering this info. This is just FYI.

So long as you have proof of filing the claim, such as the recipt you claim, you should be fine.
I would ask them next time you call who the underwriter of the policy is....I have found the following are possibilities.." underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company, Stonebridge Casualty Insurance Company, Life Investors Insurance Company of America, and Legacy General Insurance Company"
Contact your states department of Insurance and see if they are licensed to sell policies in your state and if they are in good standing with the regulators.
