Packing for Weather conditions

On our last cruise which was to Alaska we packed based on what we read on line were typical weather patterns for May .However ,as it turned out we brought fall and winter clothing and it turned out to be unusually hot .

Therefore ,my question to the seasoned travelers on this site is what is the best way to pack for a cruise ?

The best way to pack for any Alaska cruise is to plan to layer. Take along short sleeve and long sleeve t-shirts, a sweater and a rainproof windbreaker. That way you are not over-packing for cold cold weather, but you can tolerate the cold if that is what you encounter.

Ok Henry,
You are not talking about an Alaska cruise this time, right? If you are going to a warm weather cruise, pack t-shirts, shorts and sandals for during the day and then clothes for the dinner time if there is a dress code...Most evenings are casual and you can wear docker type pants, although some lines are not permitting jeans...

Its always nice if your ship does have a self service laundry room, then you can pack less and also not get home with luggage full of clothes that need to be washed..

Where are you going next time?

Good Evening ,Donna .Our next cruise is to the Panama Canal in December .

Ok, I remember now Henry,
So, its all the warm clothes, don't forget a couple of bathing suits too :-) Its a totally different kind of packing from Alaska, although put in a sweater in case its chilly on deck in the evenings and in the dinning room sometimes.

I am wondering what to pack for our Cruise in Europe on May 6th. Its not hot but I not sure what to pack. Have you been there at that time of year?

Henry, Panama Canal is HOT, HOT, HOT- tropical jungle hot. light airy,non-clingy natural fabrics are your best bet, pack for summer weather, always a good idea to pack a light jacket or sweater in case of cool evenings
