To upgrade or not

We have booked an aft concierge class cabin on Celebrity Infinity. My quandary is that my mother is wanting to go as well, however, is having difficulties finding a roommate. In looking at the staterooms, the Royal Suite appears to be the suite that will meet our needs, but the concern here is strictly financial, as we all have decided how much fits into our budgets, including airfare, shore excursions, etc. The cruise is sailing 5/2011, we have already booked our cruise, but mom has not. I definitely believe that the suites are worth the price, but it is out of our combined budget at this time. Does anyone think that the prices to Alaska will drop? Also, we thought about posting roommate want ad, but my mom is weird about strangers, so she nixed that idea. Any other suggestions? They would be very much appreciated. :-)

prices to Alaska don't drop too often; there is a limited amount of time to sail there. it isn't a year round port.. why not look into two adjoining rooms; that way you will be next to each other and the cost should be affordable

That certainly is less than the cost of the suite idea. Thank you AF1! :)

Royal Suites will go first and probably won't be offered, at a lower price, later.

I strongly suggest booking two adjoining rooms or a Sky Suite with a nearby inside cabin.

The cost of a Royal Suite is quite high and having two cabins will provide you better sleeping arrangements and if you book a Sky Suite or balcony cabin it will give you the viewing opportunity you want.

Take care,
Mike

Thank you Mike, that's an idea too. I appreaciate that there are other combination options available if I allow myself to "think outside the box". :)
