Default Annual trip insurance Ė Have it? Used it? Looked into it, but didnít like it?

Since we now take a few trips a year, I am looking into annual trip insurance. I have perused some posts regarding this. Has anyone else bought it? Any problems or shortcomings? Is it a decent product?

I would also like any info from anyone who has looked into it and decided to opt for single-trip instead. Why did you pass up the annual?

Never bought Annual trip insurance. Even though I go on a few vacations evrery year; I buy cruise trip insurance; and I also have credit cards that will cover medical expenses; plus my normal health insurance; which is good worldwide.

Dunno about the States but in the UK EVERYONE has travel insurance, virtually nobody gets it from their TA, anyone who has more than one trip will almost certainly have annual or even annual family insurance....ours actually comes with our bank account.

I would think if you are a serious traveler, that type if insurance would make sense...

I buy travel insurance as needed . Go to insuremytrip.com, and, plug in your pertanent info, and you can see side by side comparisons. Make sure if you have a pre existing condition, you are buying it, far enough in advance too cover you. I know people that have had accidents, had to use the med flights back home, and, are thankful they have purchased it.

The paperwork after the fact, like any paperwork, can be a pain, but, the fact you were are covered outeighs this, ten fold...

Be careful to only buy the insurance you need. Medical evacuation is an absolute necessity; lost baggage reimbursement is not. If you are not concerned with trip cancellation, look at Medjet or other evacuation policies. Amex also has a good policy. For everything except medical and medical evacuation, the worse that can really happen is you lose the money that you have paid while a medical evacuation can cost tens of thousands of dollars.

Wilbur you are so right...to know, or to have seen anyone, medivaced off a ship, and the aftermath, it's sound advice.

D, I've looked into it from two different companies. I rarely buy insurance for my cruises, but the annual policy is something that does make a lot of since. It covers all the medical biggies for a fair rate. You can add trip interruption as needed if needed.

Thanks for the reminder, I'm going to review it all again before we leave for the Splendor. I'll post what my premium would be.

I'm about 60, my premium would be under $60 for a year.

Could you provide a link to the company you use (if it's not against the CM rules?)?

Thanks,
